![]() What is a bash prompt? A bash prompt is the text you see on your terminal when you log in. Different OS's have it setup different ways. Once example is Another is unixfoo ~ Now, Being a typical open source community person, i want to change anything and everything on my system to custom fit my likes and disklikes. So naturally I want to change this to look cooler, and even add some colors. How do I use this thing? Well you will basically be creating your bash prompt on this page and pasting it into your terminal so it looks perty. Take a look at these few examples, check out the color and option charts below, and get started. Misc options \W - short directory \w - long directory \t - time (hh:mm:ss) \s - shell \d - date (sat jul 22) \h - hostname \u - user Your color selections are... **PLEASE note that you should end your prompt with the <white> code so what you type in the terminal will be white.
