Hi All,
I've finally decided to learn about Linux (Kubuntu 10.10 in my case), mostly out of curiosity, but also out of a strong dislike of Microsofts near monopoly of the PC world.
I bought myself a reconditioned Dell and installed Kubuntu. I played with it for a few days and then decided that I was confident enough to install the USB wireless dongle, a known working item robbed from my wife's PC (she is now on a hardwired connection).
I've spent every spare moment for almost a week trying to sort the problem using advice found on various Linux forums; but no go, except that I.
I'm attaching the data from the Terminal BASH in the hope that someone can advise me. The only thing that stands out to me, as a new Linux user, is the entry stating that the system can see the USB device and identifies it correctly, then says that no firmware found. Switch the device to a Windows PC and the firmware is obviously present in the device itself?
Can't see how to attach a file so, as I have three large files of info the board won' accept it, so, I've dropped a Word file with all the info at:
http://www.webpedlar.co.uk/kubuntu/bash.doc
My Firefox isn't displaying the functions at the top of this page (eg Insert Special Item etc) as links so a bit stuck for attaching.
Thanks,
IanF
