Full Version: Fedora Core 2 Installation

Hi All,

I have an Acer Aspire 5710 Laptop with Vista.

I'm having problems with installing Linux as an alternative OS to Vista.
At first when I paced the CD in at boot, the CD was not recognised and Vista was booted.
So I changed the BIOS boot up sequence so that my DVD drive would boot first and its seemed to work as the welcome screen came on.
I pressed enter to install Fedora but a warning came up that the Hard drive was not detected and drivers would need to be installed?
Im nopt sure what to do. Any advice?

Thanks:)

Ok. I assume the problem is due to FC not having default support for the hard drive controller. See if there is a legacy mode for the SATA controller in the BIOS.
Without knowing the details of the course I would guess that the differences between the two versions would not be problem.

Hi Michael,
Not being so technical I looked up the model and its a ST9160821AS and yes a SATA drive? Did not see anything in BIOS about legacy modes though.
What would I be looking for? My menus offer very little to fiddel with.
I must say Fedora 10 is looking mighty interesting right about now.
Thanks
