I am soooo new at this its taken me days to find this site!
I recently got an orange dongle (I'm getting good with the termanology) but as yet have nothing to put it in to lol... I have been looking at notebooks but the hp one I thought I might by has Simple Linux installed and my dongle box says I need Windows 2000 SP4, Windows XP, Vista or Mac OS X10.4 and 10.5 with latest upgrades. What I would like to know, and I am almost too embarrassed to ask is can I simply upgrade the simple linux to make my dongle work? the notebook has no built-in disc drive either so I need to know if I can put it on a stick from another pc...
I am sooo green so please make this easy for me to understand.
Ta in advance from the canal in cosgrove ;-)

Netbook. Do you mean the HP Mini 1000 as shown at http://www.linuxdevices.com/news/NS7556806272.html ?

Simple Linux? It is something invented by HP based on Ubuntu. Being Ubuntu your Dongle can probably work. It might not be easy, but your Dongle can probably work.

Dongle. Do you mean the Orange Icon 225 as shown at http://rainycatz.wordpress.com/2008/12/20/...d-on-my-eee-pc/

"I need to know if I can put it on a stick from another pc..." Your problem might be "dependancies". Other applications upon which the application depends. These are often worked out "on the fly", But sort of...

It might be useful to you if you post on http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=326 . But watch out, replies can be very quick.

@michaelk A mobile dongle from the mobile 'phone company called "Orange"!
