Without knowing what distribution / version of linux you are running it is difficult to provide any specific help. Define what you mean by "not got any CD to work"
Is the drive automatically recognized? Look at the output of the dmesg command.
I would guess its device ID is /dev/scd0.

I believe the Eee PCs run Xandros. http://www.xandros.com/products/oem/

However, linux can not natively run windows applications i.e any program.exe. What are you trying to install.

I just joined and this is my first reply, so I will not start by calling peoples stupid :-) , but the eeePC has a default desktop that is so simple to use so my 5 year old son do it without help.

The first thing you do is tho find the program updater, it can't be that hard, you have only a few tabs to choose.
Then you get a software repository configured and can browse for all software you need for this machine.
And the eeePC IS NOT A GAMING MACHINE , it's a device that let you browse Internet, do email and documents, look at videos and things like that on a safe way without getting hacked
while you do it.

I have a small mobile network <> wifi router that I bring with me so I can pay my bills and stuff while I'm traveling, the eeePC is fantastic for it.

Forget drivers and windows files, you don't need to install them at all.
