Full Version: Linux Failure

I have a RH 7.3 linux system that will not boot. It goes thru the boot process and bails out at different stages. I would like to recover some data form that system.
I have another Linux operational system and I wanted to take the hard drive from the bad one and plug it into the good one and read the data out of it. Can anyone tell me how to do it. I guess I will have to mount some map points to get to the HD from the bad one - but what exactly are the steps to take. I know something about Linux but not too much so the more descriptive help the better.
what distribution are you running? If you have red hat linux you can pop in the cd, reboot and select rescue mode.
