Yesterday all of my programs started running so slowly through Linux 10.1 using them is nearly impossible. I have Windows XP on my computer as well, and it seems to have no problems running any of the programs. In Linux when the mouse moves, the arrow follows several seconds later. Programs open up in stages and at times they are almost frozen. Using Window seems to be the only way I can get my computer to operate now, Any ideas? I am not much of a computer person, so thanks for any help.

There is no such thing as linux 10.1. What distribution Mandrake, Slackware, SuSE etc. What type of computer and how much memory is installed?

Without knowing what desktop it is difficult to point to what specific menu item to look at but could be due to memory, some intensive memory application running
etc etc... Could be time of day where certain background maintenance tasks are running.

Console commands top and ps might provide a clue.
