I was just wondering how to merge files on Linux. I have some files with extensions .001, .002, .003 etc. Do I have to download something to do it? Or are there some commands that will do the job? Thank you!

What type of files are we talking about. Wave files for example have header information which describe how many bytes of data. I also assume that the file has some type of EOF marker. You will need an application to join music files together.
