ive jst got Corel Linux to try linux out and im having trouble istalling stuff like Counter-Strike. i have heard that counter-strike will work on linux.

i click on the .exe file and the console comes up then closes straight away

any help apreciated...thnx

Windows exe files will not work on lnux unless you have wine or VMware installed.

Go get the linux port of counter-strike. Just search for it on the web.

i got WINEx 3 but how do i put it on linux?

Did you get the rpm or tgz file

Don't bother using WINE...it's not as stable as the port I would think.

The best way to install counterstrike would be onto an existing windows partition first. If you are running linux only, then you can attempt it that way. I've never installed the Counter Strike retail version, but when installing it as a mod with half life, you can easily run the half-life setup program on the cd, download the updates and install files and install them through wine.



Like I said, I've never installed the counter-strike retail version, however, my friend Crazyney has a website Linux Half Life that may be able to give you a little bit of a better idea on how to proceed. There are also forums there that deal specifically with getting half life (counter strike) running on linux.
