I have Red Hat 8.0 runninng on a Toshiba Satellite 5100 laptop. Now I want to use a FLATRON LCD 568LM moniter via a USB cable. When I boot up, the linux boot text appears on the new moniter, but when it is time for the blue screen, the moniter goes black except for an error window which says
"out of frequency" ...tthen powersave....then times out in seconds
(i'm pretty sure this window is generated by the moniter itself).
I have tried changing
etc/X11/XF86Config
so that the horizontal and vertical scan ratess are what is specified in the specs for this monitor, but the problem
persists.
Is there another obvious thing to try?
How do you diagnose a problem like this?
I am just learning my way arround Linux, so any detailed info would be appreciated.
Thanks
Riddley
