I cannot get any of the Adobe/Macromedia browser plugins to work in LINUX... the instructions do NOT WORK. I am new to Linux and it would be nice to have something in plain english that works. I am running Linux Fedora Core 5 on a Pentium 4 2.4 ghz.

The flash player - I go to the web site and it says plug-in missing, click to download. I click, it downloads, it installs, page refreshes, nothing is there.... still same. Close and restart browser, still nothing. Copied the necessary files to the browser's plug-ins directory, re-started, still nothing. Tried as multiple users logged in, still nothing.

The acrobat reader says to run the install script. I double-click the install script and all it does it open the file for editing. There are 2 .tar files, I do not see anything on how to install from within these packages.

And the Java plug-in downloads a bin file - what is this?

All help is apprreciated, I have been trying to install the flash player over the last 4 days now. Very frustrating.
Which web-browser are you using to view the page? And which directory didi you put the plugin into? Can the user that's running the browser access the plugin (ie is is world-readable)
