Full Version: Installing onto laptop
Linuxhelp > Support > Hardware Support
im trying to install linux onto my laptop but it wont let me.even though i have plenty of gigabytes to play with it keeps saying that i dont have enough there a way around this either buy running of a disc or by installing onto an external hard drive?
Need additional information.

Please post the hardware specifications of the laptop and what distribution / version of linux you are trying to install.
What version are you using? I have an old laptop that only has 4 gb hard drive and 60 mb ram and was able to install Fedora Core Linux fine without any problems. It's not fast, but gets the job done.
If it wants memory, then you need more RAM, not hard disk space, in which case running off of a CD will be even worse, and installing to an external hard drive will not help.

Try a text-installation if you havent already.
