Full Version: Mount Cdr
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
Well this board did so good on the last post I made , I will try again. I have ewo cd units in my machine one a burner and the other a cdrom. The cd burner mounts fine, the cdrom does not mount regardless of cd inserted. When trying to mount it comes up with a box saying CD ROM, could not mount device, reported error was: /dev/cdrom: input/output error, mount: I could not determine the filestyle type and none was specified. The /etc/fstab shows /dev/cdrecorder. /media/cdrecorder. auto. ro, noauto,user,exec 00 /dev/cdrom. /media/cdrom. auto. ro,noauto,usr,exec 00. What am I missing.
what type of cd was in the drive? can you mount the same cd in the other drive without a problem?

run ls -l on /dev/cdrom and /dev/cdrecorder and paste it here.
Hi Joey:

The return from ls -l /dev/cdrom
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 8 Sep 22 16:33 /dev/cdrom -> /dev/hdc

From cdrecorder
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 8 Sep 22 16:33 /dev/cdrecorder ->/dev/sr0
sorry jody fogot to say that I was using one of my setup CD,s andyes it works fine in the cdrecorder.
