I have an Athlon Semperon 64 2800+ system currently running Windows 64-bit XP Pro.

64-bit versions of Linux did not meet my needs (mplayer had to be built as a 32bit package, and the ones I found didn't support things like twinview).

My question is simple: Will I notice any performance loss on a 32-bit version of Linux? Or will 32-bit linux run just fine?

I suppose this is what I get for not reading up on AMD64 before ordering this damn CPU. =)

Thanks.

Just running one or two apps in 32bit mode shouldn't hurt. Otherwise...i am listening all the good stuff about these 64bit systems. Though..i am still a 32 bit guy. smile.gif

I know that running 32-bit apps is fine, I'm talking about running an entirly 32-bit OS.

64-bit.. havn't noticed anything good yet. Only problems. tongue.gif
