Full Version: Connection dies when uploading files
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
I'm running Debian kernel version 2.4.27-2-586tsc on an old Compaq with a NetFlex-3 network adapter.
I got it up and running as a server and everything is working fine (samba, proFTP, Apache, SSH etc) except when uploading files approximately larger than 50kB. It starts off ok and then the speed goes down and the transfer eventually failes. Downloading is no problem as well as uploading smaller files.

Any idea to why this is?

Many thanks.
Do you have quotas enabled? What error do you get when the transfer fails?

I assume when you say 'larger than 50kB', you've tested this with fairly small files (<1kb).

Please make sure the shared directory is owned by the person uploading. Otherwise, check the samba log files in /var/log to see if you can find anything useful there.

Best of luck!
