Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
I have just receaved a copy of knoppix linux live (dvd version), this perticular version came with special educational software pree installed on the live dvd..

however as many of you might know live dvds are slower then hard disk drive (hdd) installations, so knowing this i installed it to my hdd, so wow it worked compleatley, i had a little trouble with the internet but it was an easy fix, however i have lost usb hot plug, it was working when knoppix was running as a live distro, but know i have installed it i dont have usb hot plug, i have tryed to manually mount the drive but all i get is :--

Could not mount device.
The reported error was:
mount: only root can mount /dev/sda1 on /mnt/flash

thats it, stops right there..

can any body help im new to linux and this is not a very good way for me to begin as a linux virgin..
Please try this:

sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/flash
