Full Version: Suse 9.2 Installation Problem
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support

I installed SuSe 9.2 (the boxed version) and everything seemed to go ok, but after the rebooting, GRUB came up instead of the graphical interface I expected. I know nothing about GRUB and am at a loss about how to go on.

I had earlier put in a new HD with Windows XP and a secondary HD (older, smaller, almost filled) disk also with Window XP on it.

I think GRUB wants to know where the kernel is and which OS to boot. I probably should know how to procede, but don't.

Also, why didn't Linux boot up automatically? Any ideas?

GRUB or LiLo are always used to boot linux, that fact that you don't usually see it is probably just that it goes strasight to booting linux. Which drive and partition is the kernel on? You can see what grub is trying to boot by pressing "e" on the appropriate entry on the boot menu. Pressing enter should make grub attempt to boot the entry, and possibly throw up a useful error message.
