Full Version: Changing Password
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
Im trying to change a users password using 'passwd' but I get the following error -'You can only change local passwords.
passwd: Authentication information cannot be recovered'

How can I get around this? I'm logged in as root btw.
How is the user authenticated? if it's via NIS, then you will need to change it on the server, and then update the NIS maps. (Normally using the makefile in /var/yp/)
