Hey, I'm a noob...This is my first time using Linux. I'm at Perry Technical Institute and we are going through the Network+ book. This lab requires me to do something in the command prompt...but I installed it to boot into the GUI interface. How would I change from GUI interface to the regular Command line?

Well, you can use what's called a Terminal Emulator, which gives you a command line prompt in a window inside the GUI. Common ones include Eterm, Xterm, Konsole, etc. Have a look through your menus for this.

A second choice is to actually switch to a console and work from there. You can do this by pressing the Ctrl and Alt keys along with an F-key (normally between F1-F6) Each F-key will give you a different virtual console. When you want to go back to the GUI, you can use Ctrl+Alt+F7
