Help please with the networking configuration

- 3 Windows PCs (2 ME, 1 XP) all taking IPs from the router via DHCP
- Linksys 8 port router, DHCP-enabled
- Arescom DSL Modem
Note: the above are working great!

- NEW: Linux PC
- tried DHCP, no good
- set Linux PC to 198.168.2.50 and the same subnet mask
- it can now ping the router on 192.168.2.1
- it can open the router admin page and look at entries
- it cannot ping any win PCs or the DSL modem on 192.168.2.1
- I tried several configurations for the /etc/host, /etc/hosts.conf and others
- I'm stumped after reading a Linux SysAdmin book for help

It sounds to me that you don't have the gateway setup on your linux PC. Depending on what distribution you are running, you will have to enter into the networking setup and setup your default gateway (which should be you're router i'm guessing). You could install linuxconf and go into the networking section of that and set it up.
