I have the newest (at current posting) version of Mandrivas free OS, 2006 RC2. I have a US Robotics Modem and I downloaded the drivers for it off the 3com Website. It works fine after I run the command in root

rm /dev/modem
ln -s /dev/ttyS4 /dev/modem

but after restart my modem resets itself and I cant dial out until I log in via root and rewrite the commands. Does anyone have an sugestions as to how I can fix this problem. I have the /etc/init.4/serial file already rewriten thinking that may be the problem but it wasnt.

I found the fix. I started using Kppp to dial up to the internet. Under Kpp I went to configure. I then Added a modem using ttyS4 as the device. It now works fine.
