Please help me to extract this mplayer.tar.tar file

Hello,

you can extract a tar.gz file with the following command

tar -xvzf filename.tar.gz

to install the next question as well

once you've extracted the mplayer.tar.gz file

type

CODE
ls


to see what the name of the dir is into which you extracted the mplayer.tar.gz

then cd /dirnameofmplayer

and after that do the following
CODE
./configure
make
make install


WARRNING : if you encounter errors during configure, post those errors here, and we'll be glad to help you out.

Also make sure you have gcc installed.

And you never mentioned what distro are you using, please tell me that to!

There are some distroes which already come with mplayer pre packaged, and installation will be much more simple for those.
