I used the dd command without using the skip=63 parameter, and i overwrote my partition information, does anyone know a solution, i was thinking of a boot loader, will it work? (i have windows on het end of that harddisk, and was installing mac OSx on the first half of the harddisk, and accidenitly overwrote the first 63 bytes, Kind Regards, Yeehaw
I dont think instlaling a boot loader will bring back your partition information. Unless you have a backup of the partition table, there isnt really much than you can do. Possibly if you recreated the table exactly using a partion tool it might work, but I wouldnt bank on it, especially as most tools format all the partitions they create.

There are utilities that can repair partition tables.
This might work
