Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
Hey guys, I have a question. I've had sendmail working great for a nice while now sending out email by forwarding it to my isp's smtp's server, but now im trying to set up pop email so i can recieve mail. On the online dns or my domain I already have the MX record pointing to my server. I just need to know what to do next. I've never set up pop before. Ill ive done so far is get it running on boot. my disro is Slackware 10.1
I think you need to setup something like postfix. POP is a way for clients to get mail off a server, all other mail transport is done via SMTP. POP is a more of a "pulling" protoco, (ie the clients asks the server for the mail) whereas SMTP is a "pushing" protocol, the server is handed an email.
