How can I set up my Server to be accesible through the internet.
I have SAMBA somewhat set up, and I can access it through our LAN.
However I can not access it through the Internet.
I was told that there is a NIC, and a NAC that can be set up and somehow have the router poit to that particular IP address.
I know it is probably easy, but I have been at this for weeks now, and I am having doubts that this is even possible.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

SAMBA does it's best to stop you from doing this.

Traffic over SAMBA is not encrypted, which is a VERY BAD THING.

Especially since it's fairly easy to log into samba, and drop into a shell.

Why not just use SSH/SCP? Is there any reason you need to use samba?

The reasons we are using SAMBA:
1. This is our first Linux server, We are not familiar with it at all.
2. All other systems on the network are running Win XP or Win 98

Is SSH/SCP also compatible with Windows?

It really isnt a good idea to try and share files wth Samba over the internet. Not only is it insecure, but it will be incredibly slow and unreliable. Fiule sharing is really designed for LANs only, or possibly a VPN.

If you need to transfer files from site to another, use an FTP Server/Client, or SSH/SCP. Or set up a webserver like Apache with .htpasswd (password protection) files.

SMB (the windows file-sharing protocol) is not very secure, not encrypted and one of the first lines of attack looked for by an attacker.
