Aug 24 22:36:44 csc postfix/postfix-script: starting the Postfix mail system
Aug 24 22:36:44 csc postfix/master[21833]: fatal: bind: Cannot assign requested address

When trying to start postfix, I see these two lines in /var/log/mail.log

mail.err is unhelpful, and postfix -vvv is just as unhelpful.

Any idea what could be wrong?
Was this a working postfix system that just stopped now, or a new install that you are trying to get working?

My guess is that you got a host/domain name setting wrong in you file, but thats only if its a fresh install.
New install (using a current, working, install to guide me).

The thing is, mydomain is set to a working domain name pointed to this IP.

myhostname is set to another working domain name that has an MX record

I have no idea why this wouldn't be working, the error message is a bit vauge. =/
