Is there a way i can log on to a linux box as root ? At the moment i'm unable to do this and have to log on as a different user and "su" in to it.
I'm running red hat v8.
Thanks..
Craig.

Um,
Easy.. I can answer this.. if you run KDE/Gnome or any type of graphical interface, just type in root and the password you gave as a system admin durring setup(you did set a password, didn't you) I hope you remember it..
.. watch out loggin in as root is not the best idea, cuz you can do damage like I did.. lol

is the box yours or someone elses... you can disable root logins all together to where you have to su to root or use the sudo command...
