ok I am running Debian 2.6.8 and have several mounts to my xp box. Of the 4 mounts I have 3 of them stay mounted and the access to the data is fine. The problem is with one mount. It keeps "dropping" the mount. I have my mount commands in the /root/drives file, which connect during boot up.

Mount command listed in /root/drives:(I have changed the username/password and folder names to protect the innocent)

mount -t smbfs -o username=username,password=password // /mnt/folder

When I notice the mount has dropped I do a df -k and I get this error:

df: `/mnt/folder': Input/output error

When I do a ps -ef | grep folder I get this:

root 23886 1 0 Jun30 ? 00:00:15 /sbin/mount.smbfs // /mnt/folder -o rw username "username" password

Like I said the other 3 mounts are mounted in the same /root/drives file and with the same command, just the folder names are different.

Any ideas as to what this is?

In order to correct it I ether have to reboot or do a umount /mnt/folder
then: sudo mount -t smbfs -o username=username,password=password // /mnt/folder
