Full Version: Can't Connect To Network

Hello,

I recently upgraded my Debian Sarge 2.4.18-bg2.4 kernel to 2.6.8-2-k7.

Everything works fine except network connection. The new kernel can't seem to find eth0.

If I ifconfig -a, I see:

lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet ...
inet6 ...
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING

sit0 Link encap:IPv6-in-IPv4
NOARP ...

If I look in /etc/network/interfaces I see:

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

If I look in /etc/network/interfaces is see:

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

I tried turning off IPv6 by uncommenting # alias net-pf-10 off # IPv6
in /etc/modutils/aliases.

lspci | grep -i Ethernet returns:

Ethernet controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SIS] SIS900 PCI Fast Ethernet (rev 82)

modprobe -v sis900 returns:

/lib/modules/2.6.8-2-k7/kernel/drivers/net/sis900.ko

I confirmed that SIS900.ko was in /lib/modules/2.6.8-2-k7/kernel/drivers/net

Now, I just don't know where to look next.

I'd much appreciate any help you can provide to get my Linux box back on the LAN.

Thanks in advance,

Lloyd

Does lsmod show that the sis driver is loaded?
lPrentice

lsmod shows sis900 20356 0
