Full Version: Lirc Setup Error

Hi all:

I'm a newbie trying to get lirc 0.7.0 running with KnoppMyth R5A12.

When I try to configure lirc by running ./setup.sh I get the errors:

CODE
checking for getopt_long... yes
checking for mktemp... yes
checking for Linux kernel sources... missing
checking for which drivers can be installed on this system...

etcetera...then a few lines later:
configure error: *** you need to have the Linux kernel source installed.
            for this driver

The kernel sources are extracted. I'm running kernel 2.6.9-chw-4 . However, the source extracted is 2.6.9-chw . It is in the directory /kernel-source-2.6.9-chw.

I assume the question is how to tell the setup.sh for lirc that the sources are in the kernel-source-2.6.9-chw folder ? Can someone point me towards how to do this or what else I need to do to fix the problem...

thanks

Move them to /usr/src/kernel... and then make a link called "linux" (in /usr/src) which points to the directoty containing the sources.

Richard:

Thanks for your speedy reply! I had actually already done that.

What do you suggest next?

What happens if you run "./setup.sh --help"?

Perhaps there is a flag that can be used

I suppose you could try running "./autogen.sh" to rebuild the setup script

DS2K3:

Thanks again. I tried autogen, but couldn't find any such file on the entire drive.

"setup.sh --help" didn't yield any useful information, at least not that I could tell. Any other suggestions?

Thanks to all for helping me out.

As DS2K3 suggested, it was a symlink problem. I saw the symlink to the source
code, but alas, the symlink itself was broken or corrupted. I replaced it, and
voila! the code compiled fine.

lirc is now working within Linux, but still not within Myth. Sheesh. More troubleshooting
to do.
