Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
I am new to linux and have just installed suse 8.1 on my old winshite box. I was hoping this would be the end of my filling bill gates pockets!!!! Any way the problem is I cannot get linux to reconize my sound card. I am running this stuff on a compaq pressario 5190 with 12 Gig harddrive, 5.7 gig for linux, 256 RAM AMD II 400MHZ. The sound card is a ES1869 plug and play audio drive,(real ole school). I suspect that the problem is due to the fact that the sound card is integrated into the mother board.

When I try configuring with Yast2 I get the following error message
"The kernal module snd-es18XX for sound support could not be loaded, incorrect module parameter including IO or IRQ paremeter"

would love some help, I am new to linux, a once wingot, so please think baby steps.
did u config your sound card? if not type sndconfig n follow the instruction k..
