I am new to Linux and installed RH 10 on a p233. I was hoping to go to a graphical interface on startup but it boots to a prompt instead. How to I get to KDE or Gnome? Thanks.

RedHat 10 does not exist. There is a Mandrake and Slackware 10 versions.
What type of video card is installed in your PC? Do you see any errors relating to video during the boot process?
Log in as a regular user and at the command prompt type in:
startx
Post any errors.

It is an S3 Trio 32 card. It found it during setup but I may have tld it it had more memory than it actually has. I am getting errors with the vid card during startup. What can I do?

You can check the x configuration file:
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/R...figuration.htmlPosting the exact errors if possible will help narrow down the problem.

I switched out the video card and tried a different monitor but still no luck. I get an error about monitor not supporting refresh rate. Also something about not supporting 16 depth? How can I configure this myself?
