Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
Hey i was wondering if anyone has any good tools or tips for converting avi files to mpeg-1 or 2 so i can put them on a VCD. I tried fame but it doesnt work for me. Ig et this error:
open(): No such file or directory
video: could not open video4linux device
Have you tried K3B? It's burning ROM software. It can convert MP3 to Audio CD format, so it might be able to ahnd VCD, I ahve never tried though. Failing that there is a program called Konverter which might be able to do it

i did try k3b but it says it needs mpeg-1 or 2 for vcd. also tried converter says it doesnt support the avi encryption type
hmmm - What distro do you use? I know that Fedora remove all MPEG support from all the programs citing legal reasons.

im using slackware. but it works on some of the avi files jsut not on the one i wanted sad.gif oh well guess i will have to send it to the other comp and use nero

use avidemux. It is with both - GUI and console

Good luck
