I got to thinking about security in Linux and wondered how I might make my system more secure. I understand that Linux distributions like Suse are pretty secure already but I wondered if things like
Snort are worth setting up.
Thanks

How do you connect to the internet? If you ahve a NAT router, then your computer should be pretty safe as it is.
The best way to stay secure is probably to mkae sure you keep your packages up to date to plug any flaws as they are found.

Right now I'm just using my cable modem and Suse's built in firewall. A router is on the to do list for sure but for now I'm eyeballing Snort because it seems, once it's set up, to give complete control over incoming packets.
