Full Version: Installing Ethernet Controller
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
I bought netgear fa311 which is compatible with linux and am trying to install it. I need to pull the driver off the cd.
Anyone who can help a clueless newbie would be greatly appreciated

first try to look at the cd's contents and search for a readme (since I don't have a netgear adapter nor a install cd , I can't tell what to do) search for a readme file.

or some linux driver folder

try accessing linux drive folder and search for something like readme or install and tell us what it says how to install (don't paste the entire readme file here).

if you enter the console

and type

what does it show ?

maybe it's already detected and only requires configuring ?

First of all Robert, thanks for helping the mentally challenged in Linux (but I am learning)

I had found the read me file and this is what the commands were (each of these I pasted in the terminal in root mode)

cp /mnt/cdrom/FA330/Linux/Kernel2.2/*

it said
cp: copying multiple files, but last argument 'mnt/cdrom/FA330/linux/Kernel2.2/makefile' is not a directory
next instruction was this
cp fa33x.o /lib/modules/Kernel2.2/net
after pasting it said
cp: cannot stat fa33x.o: No such file or directory

so i am lost at this point.. any help would be greatly appreciated
