I want to get the Touchpad and USB Mouse (2 button with wheel) both working in Mandrake 10.1 on a Dell 5160 Laptop. The Mandrake configuration gets the touchpad working but not the mouse. I was told that mouse config info is in XF86Config-4. What should the entries be here to get both working? They both work in Windows xp. Thanks.

Mandrake 10 and newer uses xorg and not XF86 - so the config is in fact inside /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Mandrake has a very nice configuration suite, which I would reccoemnd you use, fialing that try and get a usb-to-ps/2 adapter (assuming your laptop has a ps/2 port). Editing xorg config files isn't particularly easy, though you can get there if you fiddle enough - as anyone who has ever tried to get twinview working manually will tell you.
Normally Mandrake detects USB mice straight away, literally plug and point. You can check nothing is going wrong with the mouse/usb-port by su'ing to get root access, and then saying "tail -f /var/log/messages" then plug the mouse in.
Merry Christmas
