Full Version: Linux Stopped Booting
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
After my computer froze while playing a game, when I restarted I got this error message:

Starting Ubuntu...
hda: timeout waiting for DMA
hda: drive not ready for command

This repeats.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Is this a dual boot PC? If so does windows boot?
When the PC boots does the POST messages show the drive is being recognized?

The hard drive might of failed.
Yes, the hard drive is detected by BIOS.

I am able to mount it while using DSL (a live distro).

It *was* a dual boot PC, but I never bothered to set up grub to boot into windows. The NTFS partition is still there, and I can still access it though.
