Full Version: How To Clear Ifconfig Statics Data?
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
Hi everybody:

in linux the command: ifconfig can show each network-card's information
, including their transmit datas, just like this:

eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0A:5E:05:32:A7
inet addr: Bcast: Mask:
RX packets:37947 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:266 frame:0
TX packets:7747 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:2423721 (2.3 Mb) TX bytes:9330383 (8.8 Mb)
Interrupt:10 Base address:0xa800

what I need to know is: can I CLEAR those information above? that means
I wanna RESET them back to zero, recounter them without rebooting or
down them once, may I using ifconfig's some parament else to make it works? or these information were saved in some file? where are they? can
I modify them?
I don't see a way to do that without taking down and bringing up the interface.
