Full Version: Invalid Argument Statement After Changing Runlevel

HI,

After installing Fedora linux, I decided to edit the /ect/inittab so that the runlevel can be 3 and I can start at the text mode. The only part that I modified was the part that said

id:#:initdefault:

I am able to start the computer now in text mode, but I am recieving a type of error. It says

KDSKBENT: Invalid argument
failed to bind key 255 to value 991

Have I forgotten a step? I would like to know a little more about this error and how I can fix it.

Thanks alot

the # in your example needs to be a number ... 3 for console, 5 for gui

If that is what you did, something else is wrong. Did you edit the file via linux, or move the file out to a windows pc, edit it and send it back? If edited with a windows/DOS editor, there may be extra stuff at the end of the lines.
