hi im trying to extract data from textfile.txt which is not present on textfile2.txt and put it to newfile.txt.. can i do this with diff?

therefore, what ever data textfile.txt has that does not exists on textfile2.txt, it must be written into newfile.txt

yes you can use diff for this operation..i have used it couple of times so im not really
exactly sure of the syntax for the command.

if you type: man diff
this will give you some explanation of some of the syntax for the command.
