Full Version: Newbie: Cannot Save Apache Configuration
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
When i use the GUI configuration for the HTTP server (apache 2.something) that is bundled with the Fedora core, and try to make even a simple change, like putting in a server name or a webmaster e-mail address, click "ok", click "yes" to "save and exit.", the form stays on the screen and nothing that I put into the form is reflected in the config file. It doesn't save, and it doesn't give me an error. If I make the entries directly in the config file, they are not reflected when I open the GUI config ap. Anyone had any experience with behaviour like this?

I posted an earlier article thinking that perhaps NFS may have been causing this problem, but it happens even when NFS isn't running.
make sure that the GUI config app is loading the right file wink.gif
i'd say just use your normal text editor and forget the gui config stuff.
just my $0.02
I don't like the GUI configuration tool for apache. I never use it.

The file you want to edit is /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf ... do yourself a favor and learn how to edit that file by hand to add everything you need.

If you want to use the GUI tool instead (I don't recommend it), one thing to make sure of is that you have the latest updates installed ... so make sure to use up2date.
