Full Version: Fedora Won't Accept Root
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
i have just done a new install of fedora core 2. the update program doesn't accept my root password, other items that need root access accept my root password. does anybody know whats wrong?
nothing comes to mind other than the silly suggestions (check your caps lock key, etc.).

Where exactly are you having the problem?

From a terminal window, use the command:

su - root

then login using your root password. That terminal now has root access. Inside the root terminal issue the command:

up2date -u
thanks for the help. i was using login root. i would be asked for my password and it return incorrect password, but with su root, it accepts my password.
