I just installed Mandrake 10.0 have a C-Media Electronics CM8738 not hearing any sound static and thats about it. Have used Linux somewhat not a master by any means recently came back had Mandrake 9.1 about 6 months ago so I know a little ()very little) thanx n advance

I'm new to linux, but I just installed mandrake 10 on a machine and found that I need to go to the volume control and crank up the settings (which start each time in the middle by default) before I can get acceptable sound. for some reason the middle volume settings are practically mute, and I can't figure out how to get it to save my custom sound settings so that I won't have to do that again next time I start it up.
