I have been running SuSE 9.1 proffesional for about a month now. When I first installed suse everything worked fine. I recentely bought a new PC Case and my sound didn't work when i transferred everything over. I had jumper settings wront on my front audio and that is why the sound wouldn't work but then once i fixed it I got a message when KDE would Load.

linux kernel: Disabling IRQ #5

I would now hear sound on system events but it would loop almost endlessly. Also, whenever i would use a media player like xmms or kaffeine, they would play 1 sec then crash. I tried re-installing suse and I had the same problem. I deleted suse and installed Windows XP and the sound worked fine. So I deleted XP and installed suse from scratch. and i had the same problem. I have updated the kernel with new patches from suse, updated to KDE 3.3 final release and the sound card is properly installed to my knowledge. Here is also the part of the system log where i believe the problem is occuring.

ok, this is just a guess but IRQ 5 might be already taken by another device that will not allow sharing it;

sorry, I do not know SUSE at all, but there should be a configuration module in YaST that lets the user to change IRQ that sound card uses;

hope this helps a bit
