Full Version: Incoming Packet Problem
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
OK, I am running fedora core 2. I have just changed my boxes IP/Default gateway due to a move.

The problem I am having is that most executables that require a response just stop.. this includes yum, counter-strike servers, counter-strike updates, even lynx! I can however connect to ssh, ftp etc. Programs can bind to a port successfully.

In netstat, all of these programs get stuck on SYN_SENT like this for lynx:

tcp 0 1 SYN_SENT
tcp 0 1 SYN_SENT

This for yum:

tcp 0 1 SYN_SENT

This for counter-strike update:

tcp 0 1 steam3.steampower:27031 SYN_SENT

And this for counter-strike servers themselves. They seem to receive quite a lot but then they stop receiving and just die. Seems like UDP receive is fine, just that something is wrong with the TCP side of things:

tcp 0 0 *:* LISTEN
tcp 0 1 hlmaster1.hlauth.:27030 SYN_SENT
udp 1852 0 *:*

At the moment, i have used `setup` and disabled the firewall (temporarily of course). mtr to and from the box doesn't show any loss. As i said before, i can connect to it via ssh like normal.
*Could* it be something to do with IPv6? I'm not too brushed up on linux networking, but on netstat ssh connections have the (i think they are anyway) ::ffff: IPv6 stamps and seem to be working as they should, but any TCP connection as stated above that doesn't work, don't have the IPv6 prefix as above..

UDP seems to work, which is why I ask if its this IPv6 getting in the way?
It's exactly like what this persons problem was:

But since experts-exchange required you to pay, and with a card i don't hve, thats the only place with the answer which i cant get to!
