Full Version: Can I Make A Boot Cd That Has All Os Cfg On It?
Linuxhelp > Support > Technical Support
I was wondering if I could burn a boot cd that has all my system configurations on it that I can use in the event of a major crash.

You mean back up your system config files, or make a bootable cd that will re-install your system? Your more than welcome to (and I encourage it) make back up coppies of your key system files, especially your X system configuration file, ounce you get it working right.

As far as making a bootable CD with them, thats a little more hairy and not probably something you want to dive into. Just copy them over to a disk. Config files are small and you could probably grap the really important ones onto a disk, but a CD is good to get more stuff.
Just want to add:

If you don't know where most (if not all) of your config files are located, you can find them in /etc

Back up the entire directory, usually doesn't take up much space.
