What web server are you running on windows XP ...

What did you use to make the files?

What did you use to upload the files?

Just a SWAG here because I do not know what application your using on the windows side to create the webpage. Any text file created on the windows PC will have an ASCII End of Line (EOL) characters 0x0D,0x0A. Unix files only use 0x0A. I'm also guessing that Apache does not ignore the 0x0D. There are linux apps i.e dos2unix, unix2dos that will convert back and forth. There are also windows text editors like TextPad that can save in a Unix or DOS format.

Or maybe between the HTML editor your using on the windows side and Apache.
