Full Version: Mandrakelinux Freezes...

I'm running MandrakeLinux 10.0 and kernel 2.6.3-7.

Hello all. I got DriverLoader to work (i had to install the right files for my kernel...[sorry, i'm new at linux...=P])

Now I have 2 questions.

The first is that whenever I go to "configure my computer" or "HardDrake" or any other settings program, Linux freezes. I can still manage to open programs using my keyboard in KDE (my mouse is frozen and the "Configure Your Computer Please Wait...Loading...) screen stays there forever). Linux cannot log out after this happens.

I'd like to use "configure my computer" to set up my wireless internet connection. My next question is once I get Configure up and running, how do i set up the connection? When Linux starts, it says eth0 and eth1 [FAILED] message.

Each error is different ... you can check in the /var/log/messages file to see about the eth errors and the GUI crash errors.

If you haven't already done so, you might configure urpmi (per this thread) and update your system and kernel to the latest packages (which contain bug fixes and security updates) will have to re-configure your network card as well, but it might fix your other problems.

Remember that the latest Kernel is NOT installed via the urpmi script by default .... I just go to the updates directory and download the latest kernel and install it by hand. Here is where you can get the latest kernel:
