How do set up acpi to be turned off at boot. I am running SuSe 9.1 Personal and have to ACPI=off at each boot up, is there a way to automate this ?

Hi,

if you use grub then

/boot/grub

and edit the menu.lst file

this is mine :
CODE
# grub.conf generated by anaconda
#
# Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this file
# NOTICE:  You have a /boot partition.  This means that
#          all kernel and initrd paths are relative to /boot/, eg.
#          root (hd0,0)
#          kernel /vmlinuz-version ro root=/dev/hda2
#          initrd /initrd-version.img
#boot=/dev/hda
default=0
timeout=10
splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
title White Box Enterprise Linux (2.4.21-15.0.3.EL)
    root (hd0,0)
    kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.21-15.0.3.EL ro root=LABEL=/ vga=788
    initrd /initrd-2.4.21-15.0.3.EL.img

add the command ACPI=off here :
kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.21-15.0.3.EL ro root=LABEL=/ vga=788 ACPI=off

you grub.conf file will be different , if you use grub boot loader

Sincerely
Robert B
