i want a help to do project in Linux . how to catch keystrokes in Linux , ie where we edit in source (in GNOME) to control the keystrokes. i want much control over the keyboard events , to translate the keycodes into another keycode values to display accent characters in Malayalam language. if anyone can help me ,please post the details or mail me

Loading a different locale for a different language and mapping the keyboard events are two different things.
If you want to enable Malyalam langauge strings and other things you should probably try to install Malyalam Locale for your version of Linux.
But if you want to catch the Keyboard events and process it..you will have to create events and callbacks in GTK.callbacks are functions that will be executed when certain event takes place.
